How the Waitlist Works:

VOC's Waitlist is first come, first served.

When a spot opens up:

  • You’ll get an email with the subject: "Waitlist: Space is Open."

  • That email will include a link, click it to officially claim your spot.

  • You won’t be auto-enrolled, so no worries if you’re unavailable when the email arrives.

Why does the waitlist system work this way?

To keep our volunteer lists accurate and reliable. If the waitlist operated as a “next in line” system, volunteers would automatically be added in the order they joined, even if they were no longer available.

Because our projects require a high level of commitment, we need volunteers to actively confirm they can attend when a spot opens. We also don’t have the capability to make the process “next in line” through our third-party system. For more options, please explore projects with readily available space here.

What are my chances of getting off the waitlist?

Pretty good! Volunteers cancel often so getting a spot from the waitlist is very common.

How to remove yourself from the waitlist:

If your plans change, it's easy to take yourself off the list. To do that, follow these steps:

  • Go to 'Your Projects' in the left-hand menu.

  • Scroll to the 'Waitlist' section Click the 'X' next to the project to leave the waiting list. Once this is done, you'll stop receiving notifications about openings for that project.

Final Thoughts:

Joining the waitlist is a great way to stay in the loop and boost your chances of getting on a project you care about.
