Description

Start Date-End Date: 08/18/2006-08/18/2006 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Volunteers will learn the process behind the building of a bridge for trail use. Description: Come on out and find out what it takes to build a bridge. Lend some muscle to one of the most rewarding trail construction opportunities offered this year. When volunteers have a chance to build a bridge they always have a lot of fun going through the process, from start to finish. Upon completion, bridge builders are able to return to that structure, each time feeling a sense of pride in this unique accomplishment. Building a bridge involves some degree of carpentry and/or rock working skills. Muscle can help to make up for a lack carpentry experience, due to the heavy tools necessary. The bridge that will be built during this seminar will be one of up to six that will be built during the Chavez weekend project. Training participants are encouraged to stay for the weekend project and to put these newly learned skills to work on the remaining bridges.
