Description: Join the Bluff Lake Nature Center and the Colorado Outdoor Training Initiative for a one-day (8-hour) weed management training for volunteers and staff from land management agencies and non-profit stewardship and conservation organizations. A team of experienced instructors will lead the workshop using a mixture of classroom discussion and hands-on work in the field. By the end of the training, participants will: 1) know how to properly identify common weeds, 2) have an understanding of the history of weed introductions and the Colorado Weed Law, 3) be well versed in weed ecology and fun weed facts, 4) have practiced and discussed a variety of control methods, and 5) understand how to properly lead volunteers on a weed management project. All trainees will receive a draft Weed Management Handbook and other goodies that will make for a fun, safe and successful experience. All training topics are directly applicable to any non-profit or agency weed management project! This is a workshop designed for Crew Leaders and is best for staff and volunteers that will be leading groups of volunteers on weed management projects.
