Summary: Learn the skills needed to guide a crew of volunteers on a conservation project.
Description: Crew leaders are the backbone of our organization and play an essential role on VOC projects by guiding a crew of volunteers to complete a portion of a project. In this 2-1/2 day weekend training, you will learn the following skills: leadership and team building; basic safety skills and tool usage; basic trail construction. If you attend this training and wish to become a VOC crew leader, you complete the program by serving as a trainee on VOC projects, mentoring with a senior crew leader, and when ready, graduating (this process generally takes 2-3 projects). This training is open to VOC volunteers first, then to others on a space available basis. Note: We recommend that you have prior trail building experience before enrolling in this training.
