Start Date-End Date: 05/19/2011-05/20/2011 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Description: The Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) presents a brand-new training program for historic preservation crew leadership. This two-day training will introduce the fundamentals of successful volunteer crew management for the preservation of historic structures. You^ll learn the technical skills involved in historic preservation including shingling cedar and asphalt tab roofs, installing historically accurate windows and doors, repairing and replacing deteriorated sill logs and log crib, and replacing log chinking. Through classroom sessions, field exercises and role-playing you^ll also learn and practice the leadership skills associated with leading crews of volunteers and tool use and safety. &&&br##&&&br## This training will take place at Mountain Park Campground and Arrowhead. Plan to stay for the whole weekend and volunteer at the associated Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and HistoriCorps historic preservation project. This project will be a great opportunity to use your new skills.
