Description:
Be the energy behind outdoor stewardship! Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado is hosting an introductory crew chef training for people interested in cooking for volunteers in some of the most spectacular places in Colorado. This training is for new AND current crew leaders. We'll be going over some new processes and ideas, so we'd love to see returning faces and hear your input! During crew chef training you will learn safe food handling and preparation practices; how to manage a team of volunteer crew chefs; how to plan simple menus for large and small groups; and how to manage your time in the kitchen efficiently. Crew chef training is a great opportunity to meet other people that love to cook in the outdoors and to share your favorite campsite recipes. As the old adage says, behind every hardworking volunteer is a hardworking cook!
On Saturday, March 3, from 9-11, we will meet at the VOC office to meet each other, become familiar with the VOC project model, and learn about food safety.
On Saturday, March 24, we will meet at the VOC operations Center to become familiar with the kitchen equiptment and resources. This will give us a great opportunity to work together for the first time!
