Description of Work Completed:
The Bike Depot Bike Camp met up with VOC and the Sand Creek Regional Greenway at the Smith Rd Trailhead for some fun and messy cottonwood tree painting last Wednesday! 15 youth and 2 adults mixed sand, latex paint, and water to create a gritty concoction to paint on the trees. The sandy texture of the paint deters beavers from chomping down the trees into the nearby creek - therefore, these enthusiastic youth volunteers helped protect and enhance a large section of the greenway by getting covered in paint! The worked in the heat of the day, painted almost 15 trees, and biked to and from their camp headquarters in the Park Hill neighborhood.
