Summary: Window glazing at Boulder Counties historic Walker Ranch.
Description: STEWARDSHIP SITE
The historic Walker Ranch was one of the largest cattle ranches in this region of Colorado. The initial 160 acres were settled by James Walker and his family in 1883, and the homestead was complete with a root cellar, granary, smokehouse, springhouse, chicken and turkey houses, a wagon barn, a corn storage and pig barn, and various corrals and fenced pastures. When the Walker family finally sold the property in 1959, it was over 6,000 acres. Today, the Walker Ranch is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a cultural landscape due to the integrity of its preserved fields, forests, and historic structures. Hikers, mountain bikers, anglers, snowshoers, equestrians and picnickers enjoy all this property has to offer. There are 3,504 acres of backcountry and approximately 10 miles of multi-use trails. The park also contains 2.5 miles of South Boulder Creek.

Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers:
Description of Accidents/Incidents:
Description of Work Completed: There was some miscommunication about which ICAT would focus on historic restoration and which day would be focused on trail work. Ozzie, the ICAT group leader, had wrongly assumed the day he was attending the trail day. This was probably born out of the fact that the volunteer dates changed several times as well as what activity would be executed on those dates.
In the end the group enjoyed the work and they were very productive.
