Description of Work Completed: "The Lubahn trail is an historic trail in the heart of downtown Golden that is part of the City of Golden trails system . The trail has not received consistent maintenance over the last decade due to stressed City parks staff resources. As a result the Friends of Lubahn trail was formed as an unincorporated group of Golden neighbors and friends who wish to preserve and maintain the unique character of the trail for our neighbors, citizens of Golden as well as Golden's visitors. We have worked closely with the City and established an approval process that allows the Friends to work without direct city oversight but still be accountable. We accomplish this by training our volunteers using trail stewardship and skills training through VOC/OSI, meeting all city liability requirements, photographing before and after work as well as logging total volunteer hours. We feel that VOC has been instrumental in helping us jump start our efforts by providing specialized volunteer training as well as personalized trail repair notes for the Lubahn trail itself. VOC also has an outstanding existing reputation with the City and we feel that goes a long way in giving our group the ability to work on city property. We look forward to working with VOC again for future training efforts as we build and strengthen our group." - Pete Gotseff, Friends of Lubhan Trail leader.
