Summary: Corporate volunteer project at Red Rocks
Description: For this project, we will work to close and restore undesignated trails at Red Rocks Park. Commonly referred to as "social trails," these user created trails pop up as a result of many people leaving the trail at the same point. This is especially true at the popular Red Rocks park, where visitors are constantly tempted to get closer to, and even climb on, the park's signature and sensitive rock formations.
To help alleviate this situation, we will be doing some fencing work to delineate off-limits sections in the park, and will de-compact, seed and brush in social trails.

Project Summary: Red Rocks is visited by millions of people each year, and the high traffic creates resource damage in the form of undesignated "social" trails. Volunteers from Adobe worked to repair some of this damage by closing off an undesignated area with buck and rail fencing, de-compacting, seeding and mulching about 500 square feet of social trails, constructing three rock erosion control structures, and removing about an acre of invasive weeds.
Successes and Challenges: This was a project rescheduled from earlier in the summer, when Adobe was unable to recruit the minumum amount of volunteers needed.
Lessons Learned: Staff suggested that Adobe contact VOC to schedule proejct earlier in the spring to allow for enough lead time to recruit volunteers needed.
