Latitude/Longitude: 39.530227, -105.054436 Additional Information: Camping Available: No Physical Difficulty: Easy, Moderate High Altitude Project: No Desired Number of Volunteers: 20 Total Adult Volunteers Attended: 11 Total Youth Volunteers Attended: 0 Total Volunteer Days: 11 Total Unique Volunteers: 11 Total Volunteer Hours: 38.5 Staff Hours: 15.5 Stipend Hours: 0 Project Summary: On Saturday, October 17th, 11 employees from Otten Johnson came out to Chatfield State Park to replace a crusher fine trail that had been washed out from the Spring flooding in June 2015. They were a small group, but they completed 176 feet of trail! The work entailed clearing the existing trail of organic matter and large rocks, laying down the new weed matting, laying crusher fines on top of the weed matting, and then compacting the crusher fines. Successes and Challenges: With a small group, we weren't able to complete the project, so the park will have to bring another group out. The gas compactor slowed the work down as well. Lessons Learned: Corporate groups don't do well on Saturdays. If possible, loop them in with public project, or see if they can make a volunteer day required.
