Description: This summer, VOC's Outdoor Stewardship Institute will present an exciting training program for those interested in crew leading VOC projects. Thetraining introduces the fundamentals of successful volunteer crew management for the construction and maintenance of sustainable trails. Through classroom sessions, field exercises and role playing, you'll learn leadership strategies and techniques, tool use, and safety so that you can successfully lead a future VOC project. The classroom portions of the training will be held at VOC's main office in Denver's Washington Park, and the field portion of the training will be held at the Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab in Evergreen. All trainees will receive a crew leader manual, a set of quick reference cards, and other materials that make for a fun and rewarding experience.This workshop is best for individuals that have had experience working on trail projects or previous crew leadership experience. This training is specifically designed for those interested in leading VOC volunteers. Prior volunteer history with VOC is desired.
