And if there is no difference that plant material will be used for restoration later in the fall. Description: Volunteers will be harvesting native willow stakes as an integral part of an research process to compare a "growing season harvest date' with a "dormant season harvest date" and see if the success of either of those harvests is different. Volunteers set about the task with dedication and vigor, by the end of the day we had successfully harvested, bundled, labeled, and loaded 1300 willow stakes. These cuttings will be stored for a few weeks to be used later in a restoration project near Lyons, Colorado. Successes and Challenges: Successes: Able to have a project site confirmed at the eleventh hour. Happy volunteers came out, worked hard, and had a great time. Challenges: All was well. Lessons Learned: Saw first hand the attempts of the oil and gas industry to conceal the extraction platforms.
