The crew picked up trash throughout the park and along the river, and weeded over 800 square feet of garden bed. Successes and Challenges: Due to the weather, most of the intended work did not materialize. The original main objective was to paint structures throughout the park, including the park pavillion. However, wet conditions prevented this from going forward. Park staff also indicated mulching might be a task, but weren't able to secure the material. On the bright side, the volunteer group was pleased with an event within walking distance of their office. VOC staff also made a good parks contact with Rudy Luevano, who seems like he'd be an in to better city parks projects going forward. He indicated we should ask to work with him directly next time we want to contact Tina Meiers for a project.
