To help keep hikers away from undesignated trails, which are a major source of erosion, the group built 120 feet of buck 'n' rail fencing. Volunteers made multiple one mile trips up and down the Lake Gulch trail to bring the needed timbers from the parking lot to the worksite. The crew also rebuilt a 10' section of trail, completed work on a 6'x5' rock retaining wall and trimmed willows away from an overgrown creek crossing. The work amounted to about 650' of trail maintained, and fewer future issues at this busy intersection. Successes and Challenges: Monarch is a really great group, and Castlewood really needs help. Hopefully we ccan keep this SWAT rolling year to year.
