We got started with registration and breakfast around 8:15 with hopes of getting the project work started at 9 but with the bathroom being located inthe far parking lot it pushed our start time till 9:15 or so. I had planned to host registration andlunch near the bathroom/picnic area but with the rainy weather I made the call to keep the tent closer to the project work instead. Once we got started we broke the group up into work crews of 5 and got to work spreading crusher. The crew of hard working volunteers were able to construct 700' of crusher fines trail in a matter of hours, with a short break for lunch around noon. The park's manager Ben was not able to attend the project but park employee Jim stopped by to thank the volunteers and give a brief St Vrain SP history lesson. The new trail follows the perimeter of Blue Heron Reservoir and has been years in the making. There is 700' of trail left to bring the project to completion. Once completed, the trail will provide St. Vrain visitors a scenic route to hike, bird watch or fish around the reservoir. Successes and Challenges: Successes; Despite the rainy overcast weather Noble was able to get 21 volunteers out. We finished nearly all the work we set out to achieve. It was a fun group and the volunteers enjoyed getting to work together since they are in different departments at Noble. Challenges; Having the bathrooms staged away from the project work site slowed things down a bit, and got us off to a late start. Most of the group arrived in a charter bus and there was a miscommunication regarding departure time. The project was slated to run until 2 Pm but the bus driver sudden claimed he was scheduled to be back in Denver by 1PM. So we had to suddenly wrap up 30 minutes earlier than planned which was not ideal on an already short project. The piles of crusher we were working on were left half-finished because I didn't have the info needed to manage wrap up a little better. Lessons Learned: Noble had multiple employees organizing different aspect of the project on their end. I was under the impression that my direct contact Hunter was handling it all, it would have been nice to coordinate with everyone. Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers: Description of Accidents/Incidents: Bug bites, we had bug spray but I didnt realize people were getting bit until lunch which is when I passed it around. I should have put it out with the suncreen in the morning. Description of Work Completed:
