Take this opportunity to learn how you can give back directly to your favorite places! In partnership with Headwaters Trails Alliance, VOC's Outdoor Stewardship Institute is hosting this one day workshop to anyone interested in becoming a Grand County Trail Adopter. Using the Outdoor Stewardship Institute's (OSI) Independent Stewardship for Trails curriculum, trainees will gain the skills necessary to perform needed trail maintenance tasks independently and in small groups. Topics covered will include trail tread and corridor maintenance, as well as maintenance and construction of drainage features such as knick's and dips. Trainees will learn how to address fallen lumber and hazard trees along the trail, plus proper procedures for reporting volunteer work and trail issues. A short review of volunteer leadership, risk management, and tool safety topics will also be covered. Training Cost Information: OSI trainings are offered for a nominal fee to cover materials and instructor costs. They are limited in size to ensure their effectiveness and often fill quickly.
