Nearly 300 feet of crusher fine pathway was laid to connect the recently restored cupola to the bathrooms, parking lot, and trail entrance. Volunteers were a bit lost and therefore late to the project, but we were able to work from about 8:30 to 12:30 to complete the crusher fine paths. Starbucks and Einstein's provided breakfast, and lunch had to be picked up from a Jimmy Johns in Lakewood. This took only about 45 minutes round trip, and lunch came just when we were laying the last bit of the second layer of crusher fine. Successes and Challenges: We expected 30 to 40 volunteers and only had 16, but were able to complete the bulk of the work Ryan had planned for us. Brought too much food - both Noble and VOC brought breakfast and lunch for 30 had already been paid for by Noble. No one signed the online waivers, so we brought 45 and only needed 16. It would have been nice to have had a better idea of how many people we were going to have before the event, but it was good to be prepared. Volunteers worked super hard and were all gracious and supportive. Shoutout to Tom who was our only Crew Leader and his son who brought yummy treats to share. It was definitely nice to have Tom to help us lead the project, although we probably would have needed 1 or 2 more leaders if there had been 40 volunteers. Lessons Learned: Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers: Description of Accidents/Incidents: The large box of pixies fell on Taylor's foot when loading in the morning, but the impact was small and her foot was only tender and hurt when lots of pressure was applied.
