Description: About the Stewardship Site: The garden plot at the HOPE program, a small day shelter for homeless people living with HIV/AIDS. The HOPE program helps clients track appointments, fill medication packs, offers hot lunch, laundry, lockers. The HOPE Program has partnered with Grow Local Colorado since 2012. About the Volunteer Experience: This is an easy and rewarding way to get outside and give back to your community. Volunteers ages 8+ will have the opportunity to help prep a donation food garden at the HOPE program location, managed by our partner Grow Local Colorado. Tasks are simple, will vary depending on the needs of the garden that day, and may not require the full 90 minutes. About the Overall Impact: The produce grown in this garden will be harvested throughout the growing seasonproviding HOPE program with fresh, nutrient rich vegetables for their hot lunches. It also offers participants in the program an opportunity to learn and use gardening skills of their ownand contributes to a more sustainable food chain by reducing our carbon footprint.
