Learn all the tips and tricks from some seasoned VOC Crew Chefs about how to cook for VOC volunteers in the great outdoors. Description: This course is intended for those interested in being volunteer Crew Chefs on VOC projects. April 24 Webinar:Volunteer Crew Chefs play a fun, yet vital role on VOC projects: ensuring that volunteers stay well-fed and well-fueled! If you are an organized individual with a passion for food, sign up for this online webinar to learn more about supplying and/or cooking meals for volunteers in some of Colorado's most spectacular places. We will cover the basics of the Crew Chef role including proper meal planning, safe food prep, camp set-up and clean-up, zero waste methods, and many other topics related to managing an outdoor kitchen.A link to the webinar with access instructions will be sent via email prior to the April 24 training date. April 27 Optional Orientation: After the webinar, you can choose to join us for anoptionalorientation at VOC's Operations Center in Lakewood to get a more hands-on look at the Crew Chef process, including the various equipment available to VOC Crew Chefs. About Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) Originally created in collaboration with other organizations, OSI offers affordable, in-depth training courses for volunteers and employees from any organization to learn or improve their stewardship skills and prepare for a variety of leadership roles. Approximately 300 people each year receive OSI training in topics such as volunteer crew leadership; trail design, construction, and maintenance; ecological, habitat, and fire restoration; crosscut saw skills and more. OSI is a program of Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC), the state's oldest, largest, and leading outdoor stewardship nonprofit organization. Certification is gained through additional on-project learning with an experienced Crew Chef. By checking the 4/27/19 box, trainees have the option of signing up for an additional in-person orientation at VOC's operations center in Lakewood. The optional (and recommended) session will give trainees a personal look at the kind of equipment we have available to Crew Chefs, and you'll have a chance to learn a little more about what goes into preparing for a project.
