Project Summary: This SWAT project took place as part of the Prologis IMPACT Day, a global day of service Prologis employees take part in every year. Employees can choose from projects with organizations across the world, with VOC being one of four or five options in Colorado. Volunteers who attended were quick to mention that VOC is one of the most popular IMPACT day options each year--they were all quick to sign up! The group was enthusiastic and fun to work with, even in the face of a fairly strenuous task. Volunteers moved approximately 4 tons of material in order to top-dress the eroded surfacing of the Geologic Overlook Trail. Denver Parks Staff staged the material at the bottom of the trail and volunteers filled buckets and hiked them up to spread on the trail. In total, there was 55 feet of trail resurfaced, 25 ft of tread regraded, 7 drains cleaned, 22 steps improved/maintained with weeding, and 100 ft of trail corridor cleared.
Successes and Challenges:
Lessons Learned: Bring lots of extra buckets in case some of them are too stuck to release from each other.
