Summary: Enjoy big sky views of Boulder's iconic Flatirons as you do ecological restoration in a high use area.
Description: Where You'll Be:
The Doudy Draw Trail is a multi-use trail on the southernmost end of the City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks trail system. Part of a larger trail system, the trail travels through open stands of ponderosa pines and is home to high-value grass and meadow ecology and is very popular among all trail users.
What You'll Do:
On this project, you'll join your colleagues to do some ecological restoration and light maintenance on Doudy Draw trail in beautiful Boulder. After a light breakfast you'll help in erosion control efforts on a hillside leading down to the trail as well as re-seeding areas where the trail has widened beyond compliance. Lunch will also be provided.
Why It Matters:
The Doudy Draw Trail is very popular, especially on weekends. Recently the City of Boulder has been completing significant trail maintenance in the area with the help of machinery. While improving the trail drastically in a short amount of time, there has also been some erosion and widening of the trail due to the use of machines, which if left could cause worsening damage the surrounding environment. Your work will be an incredible help to the City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks, giving the Doudy Draw Trail some TLC that will help preserve it for years to come.

Doudy Draw is a very popular multi-use trail in the City of Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks system. The clay soil in the section the volunteers worked on is known for collecting and keeping water, causing the staff to regularly have to shut down the trail due to mud. The new road base surface will allow for better drainage and a more sustainable trail for users to enjoy year-round.
