Description: This course is only for members of recreational volunteer groups affiliated with the BLM Grand Junction and Uncompahgre Field Offices, and who havepreviously received OSI Crew Leadership for Trails training or equivalent. One well-trained Crew Leader can guide up to ten people on a trail construction or maintenance project, training will expand your ability to perform high-quality stewardship work. Each trainee will receive hands-on skills update and refresher in effective crew leadership as well asthe construction and maintenance of sustainable trails, including tool use and safety. You will also receive a Crew Leader Manual, a set of quick reference cards, and other materials to take home and apply directly to stewardship projects. Please note the classroom portion of this training will be held Friday evening, March 27, from 6:00 - 8:30 PM in Delta. The trail portion will be held on Sunday, March 29, from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the Palisade Rim/Plunge area. This course also featuresan online component** prior to the workshop in order to maximize efficiency and on-the-ground coursework; the online course is self-paced and takes 2/3 hours to complete. Cost:This training is sponsored by the BLM Grand Junction and Uncompahgre Field Offices. $20for Trainees who are members of recreational volunteer groups affiliated with either field office.Be sure to put your group affiliation in the spaces provided when registering. $40for all other Trainees. About Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) Originally created in collaboration with other organizations, OSI offers affordable, in-depth training courses for volunteers and employees from any organization to learn or improve their stewardship skills and prepare for a variety of leadership roles. Approximately 300 people each year receive OSI training in topics such as volunteer crew leadership; trail design, construction, and maintenance; ecological, habitat, and fire restoration; crosscut saw skills and more. OSI is a program of Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC), the state's oldest, largest, and leading outdoor stewardship nonprofit organization.
