Where You'll Be: This course requires self-paced online work prior to the field workshop on August 15. Field training will take place on a trail in the South Platte Ranger District, within a 1-2 hour drive from Denver. What You'll Do: Through a combination of online and in-person training, you will learn the skills you need to take care of trails in the Lost Creek Wilderness independently or in small groups. You'll cover topics related to trail tread and corridor maintenance, maintaining and constructing drainage features such as knicks and dips, as well as accomplishment reporting, risk management, and tool safety. Please note that completing the online work is required prior to attending the field training; it takes about 3-4 hours to complete and is provided in partnership with Colorado Mountain College. Why It Matters: As part of our re-worked programs for 2020, VOC is developing multiple independent volunteer opportunities. By training to become a Trail Adopter, you significantly increase VOC's capacity to care for well-loved areas like the Lost Creek Wilderness. Deposit: $40.
