Summary: Restore an undesignated trail at Dedisse Park.
Description: Where You'll Be:
With forested foothills, picnic areas, and the popular Evergreen Lake House, Dedisse Park provides a variety of recreational opportunities right in the heart of Evergreen. The nearly 100-year old park is managed by Denver Mountain Parks and connects visitors with Jefferson County's Alderfer-Three Sisters park through a series of trails on the North side.
What You'll Do:
Volunteers will spend the morning closing and restoring an undesignated "social" trial at Dedisse Park. Tasks will include decompating soil, seeding, mulching, and disguising the unwanted, unsustainable trail.
Why it Matters:
Social trails are often redundant and unsustainable. If not addressed now. This trail can cause major erosion issues at the park in coming years.

Project Summary: all went well for this years Xcel DOS. We closed 600 feet of social trail at Dedisse Park. The group enjoyed the work and Ryan with DMP was very pleased with the work that was accomplished
Successes and Challenges: challenges: the group leader sent out an address for the park before i sent out my email with the parking location. The address for the park takes volunteers to a different parking lot than where we were meeting. The folks that followed my directions found it easy. the folks that just typed in Dedisse Park were take to a different parking area and had to call me for directions.
Lessons Learned:
Special Notes:
Stewardship Education: Ryan gave a great talk in the morning about the history of DMP. he also talked a lot about social trails
