Summary: Learn how to prepare better backcountry meals for a group in this fun one-day training.
Description: Open to volunteers and staff from any organization!
Backcountry camping doesn't have to mean meal-in-a-bag dinners. In this Saturday workshop, you'll practice preparing delicious meals for volunteer and other work crews in remote settings and learn essentials such as how to plan menus for remote trips, use pack-string support, set up and manage a kitchen in the backcountry, and cook with a dutch oven outdoors. At the end of the day, you'll put your skills to the test by preparing and sharing a meal with trainees from the concurrent Crew Leader Training.
Cost: $30.

Project Summary: all registered trainees attended and everything went well. Wind hit during the day so the group relocated to a covered porch to finish out the day. 2 trainees (angela ennis and elaine) followed up about how excited they were and have been connected to the backcountry chefs this year to learn planning and prep as they cannot go on the projects due to group size limits.
