Description: Open to volunteers and staff from any organization! Take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to plan and build timber steps! Timber steps are used in trail construction to allow for a quick elevation gain where grade standards would otherwise be exceeded. Steps help make the trail easier and safer to hike, and they help control erosion over the long term. At this half-day workshop, Instructors will walk participants through the step-by-step process of planning and building "cribbed steps" and will discuss other design alternatives. The training will concentrate on creating consistent slope, uniform risers, and sustainable tread. This training is being held in conjunction with VOC's project weekend at Lake Pueblo State Park, so volunteers will have the opportunity to immediately put their new skills to use! Cost:$20. This training is free to volunteers who will attend our Fishing Pond Improvements @ Lake Pueblo State Park project on Oct 2-3. ContactDan Williamsto register at no cost!
