Start Date-End Date: 04/01/2022-04/03/2022 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Chris Pipkin Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: This custom training is open only to recreational volunteer groups affiliated with or employees of land management agencies in Ouray, Delta, Montrose or Mesa Counties. Trainees must have previously completed an OSI Crew Leadership for Trails Course. Description: One well-trained Crew Leader can guide up to ten people on a trail construction or maintenance project, training will expand your ability to perform high-quality stewardship work. Each trainee will receive hands-on skills update and refresher in effective crew leadership as well as the construction and maintenance of sustainable trails, including tool use and safety. You will also receive a Crew Leader Manual, a set of quick reference cards, and other materials to take home and apply directly to stewardship projects. Please note the classroom portion of this training will be held Friday evening, April 1, from 6:00 - 8:30 PM in Fruita. The trail portion will be held on Sunday, March 29, from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the 18 rd area. Cost: $30 for Trainees who are members of recreational volunteer groups affiliated with or employees of land management agencies in Ouray, Delta, Montrose or Mesa Counties. Be sure to put your group affiliation in the spaces provided when registering. Refunds will be provided to those who cancel at least 2 weeks before the training date. Accommodations and meals will not be provided. About Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) Originally created in collaboration with other organizations, OSI offers affordable, in-depth training courses for volunteers and employees from any organization to learn or improve their stewardship skills and prepare for a variety of leadership roles. Approximately 300 people each year receive OSI training in topics such as volunteer crew leadership; trail design, construction, and maintenance; ecological, habitat, and fire restoration; crosscut saw skills and more. OSI is a program of Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC), the state's oldest, largest, and leading outdoor stewardship nonprofit organization.
