Summary: This exciting training is a must for anyone interested in leading volunteers in trail projects! This course is currently not open to the public.
Description: This course is ideal for those who have prior trail project experience.
One well-trained Crew Leader can guide up to ten people on a trail construction or maintenance project, and this 1.5 day training will expand your ability to perform high-quality stewardship work. Each trainee will receive hands-on training in effective crew leadership as well as the construction and maintenance of sustainable trails, including tool use and safety. You will also receive a Crew Leader Manual, a set of quick reference cards, and other materials to take home and apply directly to stewardship projects. This course also features an online component prior to the workshop in order to maximize efficiency and on-the-ground coursework; the online course is self-paced and takes 4-5 hours to complete.**
Cost: This training is funded in part by a grant from the Colorado State Trails Program as part of an effort to support regional training and volunteer capacity. This training is free of cost to trainees who are members of volunteer groups affiliated with land management agencies or land management agency staff in Gunnison and Crested Butte. Be sure to put your group affiliation in the spaces provided when registering.
**The online course is provided in partnership with Colorado Mountain College to make it easier and faster for volunteers, students, and professionals to obtain the skills necessary to effectively care for Colorado's natural resources.
