Description: Interested in improving your trail maintenance skills and ability to work independently in partnership with agency trail managers and outdoor stewardship organizations? This online module provided in partnership with Colorado Mountain College is a great place to start! You will work through 4-5 hours of self paced content, including working successfully in partnership with an government agency or non-profit sponsor, effective accomplishment reporting, risk management and safety while performing trail work, and the basics of trail maintenance including basic tasks for corridor, tread and drainage structure maintenance. The course includes text and diagrams, recorded lecture content, video examples of topics, and quizzes. *This course is available through August 2022. At this time the CMC semester will end and all classes will restart. Please be sure to finish all of your modules before that date otherwise you will have to pay to re-enroll. This course does not automatically qualify you to perform trail work on your own. Always check with the appropriate trail management agency before starting any independent trail maintenance! About Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) Originally created in collaboration with other organizations, OSI offers affordable, in-depth training courses for volunteers and employees from any organization to learn or improve their stewardship skills and prepare for a variety of leadership roles. Approximately 300 people each year receive OSI training in topics such as volunteer crew leadership; trail design, construction, and maintenance; ecological, habitat, and fire restoration; crosscut saw skills and more. OSI is a program of Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC), the state's oldest, largest, and leading outdoor stewardship nonprofit organization.
