Description: Interested in improving your dry-stone masonry skills for building trail structures? This online module provided in partnership with Colorado Mountain College is a great place to start! You will work through three online sections covering the fundamentals of safely selecting, transporting, and setting rock as well as overviews of the components and process of constructing rock steps and rock walls. The course takes 2-3 hours to complete and includes text and diagrams, recorded lecture content, video examples of topics, and quizzes. *This course is available through August 2022. At this time the CMC semester will end and all classes will restart. Please be sure to finish all of your modules before that date otherwise you will have to pay to re-enroll. The course can be taken on its own for general knowledge, or can be paired with further field training or project experience for OSI Rock Work Skills certification. About Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) Originally created in collaboration with other organizations, OSI offers affordable, in-depth training courses for volunteers and employees from any organization to learn or improve their stewardship skills and prepare for a variety of leadership roles. Approximately 300 people each year receive OSI training in topics such as volunteer crew leadership; trail design, construction, and maintenance; ecological, habitat, and fire restoration; crosscut saw skills and more.
