Where You’ll Be:
This project takes place at Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, a well-loved natural area known for its recreational opportunities. From swimming and boating to hiking and camping, the reservoir offers something for everyone. The worksite is located near the North Side Inlet Bay Trail, with campsites just a five-minute walk from the parking lot and about a 20-minute walk (approximately one mile) from the project site. The campsite is right next to the reservoir, so feel free to bring a kayak, paddleboard, or any other gear to take advantage of the recreational activities in the area.
What You’ll Do:
Volunteers will create a new trail to connect two trailheads and the campground, improving access and recreational options in the area. The work will involve removing rabbitbrush, laying down finely crushed material to improve the surface of the trail, building a rock wall, clearing rocks, and completing a sandstone rock uplift. The project combines technical trail construction with ecological restoration, contributing to the sustainability and usability of this popular natural area.
Enjoy breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, with dinner on Saturday.
Bring your own dinner on Friday night, and enough snacks for the weekend.
Free campsites are available from Thursday, May 8th – Sunday, May 12th, and volunteers are encouraged to arrive at base camp before 8 pm on Friday, May 9th.
