Salt Creek Trail Maintenance @ Eagle

Expired

Description

Where You’ll Be:

Salt Creek Trail is a 4.6-mile non‐motorized trail that connects the Town of Eagle to other National Forest System trails in the lower reaches of the Sawatch Mountains. This project will help maintain recreational access along this trail while improving its overall sustainability for long-term use. Ensuring its durability will benefit both local communities and outdoor enthusiasts for years to come. Volunteers will camp at the upper trailhead, near the town of Fulford.

  • Breakfast and lunch are provided on Saturday and Sunday, along with dinner on Saturday.
  • Bring your own dinner for Friday night and enough snacks for the weekend.
  • Free campsites are available on Friday and Saturday nights, and we recommend arriving at base camp before 8 pm on Friday.

What You’ll Do:

You'll join around 30 volunteers in providing critical trail maintenance to 2 miles of trail. You and your fellow volunteers will work your way down the trail, redefining the route, building drainage structures, and improving stream crossings using hand tools to ensure continued recreational access in this corner of the National Forest.

Why It Matters:

The Salt Creek Trail is a key recreational and historical route. There are no other Forest Service routes from the town of Eagle to the mountainous terrain south of town. By volunteering, you’ll play a crucial role in bringing this trail up to standard, protecting the surrounding landscape, and preserving recreational opportunities for all.
