Where You’ll Be:
Concrete Couch is a nonprofit organization in Colorado Springs dedicated to arts, environmental education, and community engagement. Since 2004, it has provided hands-on learning experiences that empower youth and community members to improve public spaces, develop job skills, and connect with their environment.
Concrete Coyote Park serves as both a community resource and a restored natural space in an area with fewer parks and recreational opportunities than other parts of the city. It also supports schools with predominantly Title 1 designations, making it an important hub for education and outdoor access.
What You’ll Do:
Volunteers will take part in a variety of tasks focused on improving the health of this creative and green space. Work will include removing invasive weeds and performing trail maintenance to improve access and sustainability. Your efforts will help create a healthier ecosystem for a community that depends on this space for recreation, education, and connection to nature.
Please bring your own lunch for the day!
Why It Matters:
Concrete Couch has transformed this space through community-driven rehabilitation efforts, turning environmental restoration into an opportunity for education and engagement. The organization has hosted over 2,750 program sessions, working with a wide variety of groups.
Through these programs, volunteers and community members have removed trash, planted trees, built walking and biking trails, and created public art, seating areas, an outdoor classroom, and a stage. By participating in this project, you’ll contribute to the ongoing maintenance of this space, ensuring it remains a welcoming and sustainable resource for the local community.
