Where You’ll Be:
Bible Park is a 66-acre park in Southeast Denver encompassing several biking and walking trails, including the Highline Canal trail, a portion of Goldsmith Gulch, numerous playing fields, tennis courts, exercise stations, and a new playground. The eastern half of the park is open space with native grasses and forbs and amazing old-growth cottonwoods along the gulch.
What You’ll Do:
Volunteers will help install timber steps in place of an existing heavily-eroded and steep social trail. This location receives heavy use from folks accessing the courts and the park from the Highline Canal and surrounding neighborhoods. This heavy foot traffic has led to heavy erosion and has made restoration efforts more challenging, reducing the success of previous restoration efforts and leading to unsafe conditions for park users.
Please bring your own lunch for the day!
Why It Matters:
The timber steps will improve safety, protect the restoration area from traffic, and reduce the expansion of social trails into the natural landscape.
