About the Partnership:

Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers (RFOV) was founded in 1995 by a group of Roaring Fork Valley residents who saw the need for a local volunteer organization to work in partnership with the public agencies that manage, preserve and protect the public lands of the Roaring Fork, Crystal and Middle Colorado River Valleys. Built on the successful model of volunteer-powered conservation pioneered by Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC), RFOV aims to foster a diverse and engaged community of outdoor stewards working collectively for the benefit of the public lands of Colorado's western slope. RFOV and VOC have partnered together on numerous projects on the western slope, including a project in September 2017 at the Hanging Lake trail. These partnership projects create opportunities for our volunteer networks to integrate and collaborate on important stewardship projects. In recognition of this shared history, RFOV and VOC are thrilled to partner on National Public Lands Day (September 27th) for a project on the Hanging Lake Trail.

Join us in celebrating RFOV for 30 years of impactful outdoor stewardship work in Colorado!

About the Project:

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the state of Colorado, the Hanging Lake Trail was severely damaged by the Grizzly Creek wildfire in 2020 and subsequent flooding during the summer of 2021. For the first time since 2021, volunteers have the opportunity to continue the long-term stewardship of the Hanging Lake Trail. Tasks will include various trail maintenance and restoration activities.
