Description

Where you'll be:

Discover Picture Canyon in the Comanche National Grassland! This tranquil area features rolling hills, colorful Dakota Sandstone cliffs, and unique geological formations. The grasslands are a hidden gem offering over 13 miles of multi-use trails open to hiking, biking, and equestrian use. Inhabited from 10,000 B.C. to the 14th century, this area is also an archeology site with rich cultural history, click here to learn more about the history of the site. Picture Canyon is a designated dark sky zone and promises a unique and remote experience, far from light pollution.

What you'll do:

Join us in restoring existing trails amidst flat, sandy, and rocky terrain. Activities include installing new trail markers and replacing worn signage crucial for visitor safety and preventing navigation issues.

Enjoy breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, along with dinner on Saturday. Bring your own lunch (BYOL). Free campsites are available on Friday night and Saturday night, and volunteers are encouraged to arrive at base camp before 8 pm on Friday.
