Description

Where you'll be:

Located in Park County's South Platte Ranger District within the Pike & San Isabel National Forest, just northwest of Bailey, CO.

This district, covering nearly half a million acres, offers diverse landscapes with elevations ranging from a mile high to 14,000-foot peaks. Nearby Harris Park, situated at 8,852 feet, borders the Pike National Forest and the Mount Evans Wilderness area, attracting millions of visitors annually from Denver and beyond.

What you'll do:

Volunteers will assist in removing approximately 1,500 feet of old barbed wire fence on Forest Service lands adjacent to private property and Harris Park. The unused fence poses risks to wildlife and the public, and volunteers will cut and roll it for disposal.

Why it matters:

This project is crucial for wildlife habitat protection and human safety. Removing this safety hazard makes the landscape safer for both wildlife and the public. The fence removal supports animal migration, contributing to the health of the migrating herd in the area. Join us in preserving the natural balance of this diverse landscape.
