Where you'll be:
Join us in the scenic Vega State Park, boasting mountain views and a variety of recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing, and biking. Located at 8,000 feet, this park in June will feature a meadow alive with incredible wildflowers alongside a spacious reservoir.
What you'll do:
Participate in replacing nearly 1-2 miles of barbed wire fence along the park's perimeter. Open-range cattle accessing the park in this area cause significant damage to creeks and visitor use areas. The replacement of these fences with a more sustainable option will enhance the ecosystem and mitigate the impact on wildlife.
Why it's important:
The new fence will reintroduce native wildlife, positively impacting the park's ecosystem and restoring the natural food chain. Beyond ecological benefits, this project enhances recreation opportunities, ensuring a better experience for park visitors. Join us in preserving the beauty and balance of Vega State Park.
