Where you'll be:
Join us at Cal-Wood Education Center, nestled in the foothills above Boulder near Jamestown. Cal-Wood is a non-profit dedicated to expanding the diversity of individuals experiencing nature and the Colorado Mountains through its environmental education programs.
What you'll do:
Participate in creating new trails to enhance Cal-Wood Education Center's trail system. Increased usage, coupled with the impacts of the 2013 flood and the 2021 fire, has degraded the trails. Your assistance in constructing new trails will enable Cal-Wood staff to focus more on providing environmental education programs and camps and reduce the amount of staff time spent on maintaining the trail system.
Enjoy breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, along with dinner on Saturday. Bring your own lunch (BYOL). Free campsites are available on Friday night and Saturday night, and volunteers are encouraged to arrive at base camp before 8 pm on Friday.
Why it's important:
The trail system at Cal-Wood presents an invaluable opportunity to enrich outdoor education curricula. By creating engaging trails and access points to teaching sites and scenic destinations, we can encourage outdoor activities and provide enjoyable experiences while minimizing reliance on roads as trails. Join us in revitalizing the natural surface trail system to enhance every visitor's experience at Cal-Wood.
