Description

Where you'll be:

Boulder County Parks and Open Space staff will continuously monitor seed development at a variety of open space areas within the county in preparation for the collection event, so the exact location of project will be shared with registered volunteers about four to seven days before the project date.

What you'll do:

Join us in helping to increase the availability of native seeds by hand-collecting a variety of species, including grasses, sedges, wildflowers, shrubs, and trees. Boulder County Plant Ecologists will be on-site and provide identification of wildflowers and other native plants during the project.

Why it's important:

Using native seeds in restoration efforts is essential to healing the land after disturbance. Often, however, native seeds are not available commercially, they are too expensive, or the available seeds are not ecologically appropriate.
