Summary: Construct one mile of natural surface trail to connect the park's Interpretive Trail to park facilities
Description: Be one of the first to experience Colorado's newest state park.
Spend National Trails Day building one mile of new trail at
Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Home to bear, bobcat, elk, deer and
cougar, the park's rolling hills, grasslands and pine forests will offer
exceptional recreational opportunities for Colorado Springs and provide
acres of undisturbed land to explore and enjoy. This project
continues a longstanding partnership involving construction by VOC
volunteers of the premier trails in the park. The trail will link the
park's group picnic area, event center and camping area to the Zook
Trail and the Interpretive Trail, built by VOC in 2003 and 2004. With
an estimated 300,000 visitors a year, Coloradans are eagerly awaiting
this extraordinary addition to the state park system.
