Summary: Volunteers will complete trail work that includes the construction of six bridges which will allow hikers to access great views and lush mountain habitat.
Description: First constructed in the late 1970s, the scenic Chavez Trail in Genesee Park has been closed since 1993 because a portion of it crossed private property. Fortunately, due to a recent land purchase by the Clear Creek Land Conservancy, hikers will soon be enjoying the trail's outstanding views of the area's snow covered peaks. Lush habitats supporting columbine, larkspur and hundreds of other wildflower species are revealed as the trail winds through pine forests and crosses mountain streams. In addition to restoring and rerouting one mile of trail, volunteers will have the gratifying opportunity to build six bridges, providing access and enjoyment for thousands of outdoor enthusiasts along the Front Range.
