Summary: Volunteers will complete a 2-mile extension of an existing trail which will eliminate social trails and provide additional access to this portion of the Colorado Plateau.
Description: The McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, located west of Grand Junction, offers 122,300 rugged acres of sandstone canyons, natural arches, spires, and alcoves carved into the Colorado Plateau. Join VOC in completing a two-mile extension of the Rabbit Ear Trail in this majestic area on the Western Slope. The trail extension, located on the rim of Ruby Canyon, will provide extraordinary views of the Colorado River and canyon lands while eliminating a series of braided and eroded social trails. Pack the sunscreen and spend two beautiful fall days working with the Bureau of Land Management and Friends of McInnis Canyon National Conservation Area to protect this unique and irreplaceable landscape.
