Summary: Help maintain the popular Zippity-Do-Da mountain bike trail in the North Fruita Desert. We'll reroute a short segment of the trail, making it more sustainable while trying to retain the "fun factor."
Description: At the base of the Bookcliffs north of Fruita lies a network of singletrack trails revered by mountain bikers from around the world. While offering big time fun, many of these trails are in need of maintenance and, in some cases, reroutes in order to make them more sustainable. The dips, drops, twists and turns of Zippity-Do-Da make it a favorite ride for advanced riders. Some of those steep drops have become badly eroded where water follows the same line as the riders. We'll tackle a reroute on one of those spots - adding more trail with lots of twists and turns, some smaller dips and drops and even a big banked turn. We'll also do some maintenance on other nearby sections of this trail.
This is a two-day project. Sign up for one or both days. There will be food and drink provided at the end of each day, and probably some raffle prizes as well! Free camping is available near the worksite.
