Description: Natural area parks give balance to the urban environment. At Parkfield Park, in northeast Denver, residents of Montbello and Green Valley Ranch find recreation, solace and renewal in the midst of the city. A multitude of waterfowl, song birds, raptors, fish, mammals, amphibians and reptiles find homes in Parkfield's prairie and wetlands. Nestled between two schools, the park's varied habitat also provides environmental education for neighborhood children. This undeveloped natural area park is in need of help. Native habitat need to be enhanced and expanded. More trails are needed to provide access and protect natural areas. Your help is needed to restore this urban retreat. Celebrate Earth Day at VOC's largest project of the 2007 season. Welcome spring by planting trees with friends and neighbors. Make a difference that many will enjoy for years to come.
