Description

Start Date-End Date: 10/20/2007-10/20/2007 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Help construct the Summit Loop Trail on Green Mountain in Lakewood. Description: Lakewood's William Frederick Hayden Park covers approximately 2400 acres of open space. The park's center piece, Green Mountain, provides views of the Denver skyline, Red Rocks Park, and three fourteen thousand foot peaks. Hayden provides a unique venue in an urban setting for many recreational opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and paragliding. Park managers estimate that a quarter million visitors a year use Green Mountain's trails. To ease pressure from the existing trail system and help stop the proliferation of social trails, Lakewood is constructing a four and half mile loop trail circumnavigating the summit of Green Mountain. Spend a crisp autumn day building new trail, taking in the views and enjoying the camaraderie of committed volunteers.
