Description

Start Date-End Date: 07/26/2008-07/27/2008 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Appropriate for anyone 12 and older. A great first project or opportunity to learn more trail skills. Youth crews will work on their own sections. Currently, the camping area is full for this project. However, we still have opening for volunteers who just want to work during the day on either Saturday or Sunday and don't want to camp. Description: Water falls, a legendary landmark, 29 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding and all of it just minutes west of Fort Collins. Horsetooth Falls is just one of the attractions that draw over 100,000 visitors to Horsetooth Mountain Park every year. Heavy traffic to the Falls has resulted in a badly eroded trail corridor that could result in further resource damage if not addressed. Volunteers will repair the trail by building steps and walls; addressing drainage issues; and completing general trail maintenance projects. Volunteers (future crew leaders?) can also participate in special skills workshops to learn more about trail construction and maintenance. Parking is limited so save some gas and carpool with some friends!
