Description

Start Date-End Date: 06/20/2009-06/21/2009 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Description: The Blue River is world famous for its gold medal trout fishing. It is also one of the few rivers in the Rockies home to the Kokanee salmon. During the fall, the Kokanee migrate from Green Mountain Reservoir to their spawning grounds upstream. This event draws fishermen from all over the world; but with few access points to the river, the riverbank ecosystem is compromised as hundreds of fishermen make their way to the river. In 2008, VOC volunteers began to address this problem by beginning the construction of 180 feet of boardwalk which is part of a trail providing safe, sustainable public access to the river. Bring your fly rod and join VOC and its talented construction team this June to complete the boardwalk to a world class fishery.
