Description: Spend a day with youth who are making a difference! Join VOC's Cairn Stewardship Challenge high school students for a fun day repairing and restoring one of Cherry Creek State Parks' most popular walking trails. This is a perfect opportunity for families, youth, and small groups to join together in repairing and restoring the Shop Creek Trail.
Shop Creek Trail has suffered significant damage from frequent floods along Cherry Creek. Hikers trying to avoid damaged section of trail have created multiple trail corridors, braided walkways and wide paths. To alleviate the damage and re-create a sustainable trail, volunteers will restore eroded areas with new soil, and repair and resurface sections of the trail with finely crushed rock.
VOC's Cairn participants will show their skills in volunteer leadership by completely planning and organizing this project under the mentorship of VOC's skilled adult volunteer leaders. Show your support for all young stewards by volunteering on this super one-day project.
